Jack Harding – Barefoot Challenge – Helvellyn Striding Edge.

Did you know, last week a young man from Carlisle hiked the 3rd highest mountain in England in his bare feet.

3,118ft of mountain terrain, with nothing on his feet.

I bet you wish someone filmed it…

Introducing Jack Harding, Jack is a YouTube vlogger from Carlisle. Jack has been taking his camera up into the lake district and around Britain for the last 3 years. Jacks YouTube channel ‘Jack a Snacks‘ features lots of his favourite places to explore across the Lake District and Britain. With over 20.3k subscribers on his channel Jack explored the ‘The Most Dangerous River in the world’, a video which has received over 1 million views.

“People leave me messages to say they have been struggling with mental health as they are unable to get outdoors due to health issues and my videos are a way for them to explore the outdoors with me”

Last week Jack decided to hike Helvellyn Striding Edge without anything on his feet to help raise awareness for Carlisle Eden Mind. In his video he documents the preparation and the ascent and shares his thoughts on why he chose to do this barefoot challenge in aid of Carlisle Eden Mind.

As of right now Jack has raised £808 with his Just Giving page, the link is still open for donations, click on the link below to donate:

“I decided to link this up with the charitable event “bare your sole” which has emphasis on mental health organisations and the work they do to provide a crucial service to those needing help. Exploring these mountains is how i keep my own mental health in check but not everyone is able to take off into the mountains to clear their mind which is where MIND steps in.”

We can’t thank Jack enough for thinking of us with this challenge.

He is a massive inspiration to anyone that is planning their own fundraiser challenges this summer.

“The comments section in my videos is the reason I wanted to support a mental health charity and Carlisle Eden Mind was a good fit for what I set out to do last week. People leave me messages to say they have been struggling with mental health as they are unable to get outdoors due to health issues and my videos are a way for them to explore the outdoors with me. I always respond but I never know what to say and always feel a bit helpless. That is why I chose to take on this challenge and raise money through Mind as they directly help those that need it.” -Jack Harding.
