Carlisle Eden Mind offers Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses for anyone who works with, lives with or supports young people aged 8-18.
The 2-day course is fully accredited by Mental Health First Aid England.
Learn the practical skills to spot triggers and warning signs of mental health issues in young people, build the confidence and tools to reassure and support a young person in distress and have an in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and the factors that affect their well being.
We run youth mental health first aider courses as open courses, regularly throughout the year.

Two-day Youth Mental Health First Aid

Two-day YMHFA

We hold two-day youth mental health first aid courses regularly throughout the year as open courses for anyone to attend. You can find our next course dates on our training and events calendar. We also offer all our MHFA courses in house at workplaces and organisations if you want to know more about in house training email us enquiries@cemind.org

This two-day course qualifies you as a Youth Mental Health First Aider, giving you:

An in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect well being
Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
Confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress
Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
Knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s through self-help sites, their place of learning, the NHS, or a mix – engaging with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate
Ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive
Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing

Learning:

Two-day face to face course across four manageable sessions
Each session is built around a Youth Mental Health First Aid action plan
Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities
We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn

Everyone who completes the course gets:

A certificate of attendance to say you are a Youth Mental Health First Aider
A Youth MHFA manual to refer to whenever you need it
A workbook including some helpful tools to support your own mental health.

One day Mental Health Champion

One Day Mental Health Champion Course

We hold one-day youth mental health champion courses regularly throughout the year as open courses for anyone to attend. You can find our next course dates on our training and events calendar. This one day course qualifies you as a Youth MHFA Champion, giving you:

An understanding of common mental health issues and how they can affect young people
Ability to spot signs of mental ill-health in young people and guide them to a place of support
Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness
Skills to support positive wellbeing

Learning:

One day face to face course
Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities
We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn

Everyone who completes the course gets:
